Far Afield

New York, NY—  Far Afield is a collection of works by artists who approach landscape through a wide variety of mediums and practices. These far-ranging explorations of the pastoral share a language that is grounded in tradition but filtered through current techniques and attitudes. Many veer into territory that feels more related to an emotional state than an actual place. These artists use nature and the physical world as a starting point. Observation and memory meet invention and abstraction as the landscape provides a stage for the sensibility of the artist. 

Artists featured in the exhibition include: Michael Abrams, Vinna Begin, Poogy Bjerklie, Shawn Dulaney, Thomas Hager, Susanna Howe, Kathryn Lynch, Eileen Murphy, Peter Schroth, and Rick Shaefer. The show is on view November 6 - December 13th at Sears-Peyton Gallery in their Chelsea location at 210 Eleventh Avenue. There is an evening reception November 6th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Exhibitions are open to the public Tuesday-Friday from 11:00am - 5:00pm and Saturdays from 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
